The “Ghostbusters” franchise is expanding its universe with the announcement of an animated film that is currently in development.
A sequel to “Afterlife” is also returning to the home of the original films in New York City. Diversity.
Jason Reitman and Gil Cannon of Sony Pictures and Ghost Corps made several announcements as part of Ghostbusters Day, an annual celebration of the release of the first “Ghostbusters” film on June 8, 1984.
The new animated film “Ghostbusters” is based on the IP and is being developed by Reitman and Kennan in association with Sony Pictures Animation.
Chris Prinowski and Jennifer Kluska are set to direct, with Brenda Hsueh set to write.
During their presentation on Ghostbusters Day, Reitman and Kennan also confirmed that the sequel to their 2021 film “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” would return to the story’s original home in New York City.
