Women Development and Child Welfare (WD&CW) department officials will organize meetings and workshops on safety of the girl child on the occasion of National Girl Child Day on January 24 in collaboration with various NGOs.
Andhra Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) chairman K. “The programs will be organized in all the districts,” Appa Rao said on Sunday.
Mr. Appa Rao said that members of non-governmental organizations would also organize cultural programs highlighting the problems of the girl child and create awareness among people on the rights of the girl child.
“Issues like child marriage, malnutrition, acid attacks, honor killings, trafficking and girl child education will be discussed during the workshops,” he added.
He said that the Investigating Officers, Village Child Protection Committees (VCPCs) and heads of child friendly villages would also present case studies on the occasion.
