Ambatnaya Mudradi was a recipient of the Parthi Subba Award instituted by the Karnataka Yakshagana Academy and the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award.
Writer, Talmaddale ‘arthadari’ (speaker or interpreter), retired teacher and Harikathe story writer Ambatnaya Mudradi passed away on February 21 in Udupi. He was 88 years old. He is survived by his wife, three sons and five daughters.
He was a recipient of the Parthi Subba Award instituted by the Karnataka Yakshagana Academy and the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award. Mudradi had served as the president of the Udupi Zilla Sahitya Parishad.
A Kannada book titled ‘Yakshagana and Harikathe Ondu Taulanika Adhyayan’ authored by him was released a week ago at the first state sponsored and organized Yakshagana Sammelan in Udupi. He was also a Yakshagana text writer.
Udupi Yakshagana Kalaranga president M. Gangadhar Rao and secretary Murli Kadekar have condoled his demise.
