Yellow fever vaccination conducted at three centers in Tamil Nadu

People traveling to countries in Africa and South America should get the yellow fever vaccine.

Vaccination is done at three centers in Tamil Nadu.

The Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine said in a press release that cases of yellow fever have been reported in countries in Africa and South America.

People traveling to and from those countries should get themselves vaccinated to prevent the spread of the fever.

They should travel 10 days after vaccination. This was being monitored through yellow fever vaccination certificates at the airports, the release said.

Vaccination is done at 50 centers in the country including three in Tamil Nadu. Directorate on Tuesday from 10.00 AM to 10.00 PM (Online Registration: ivcatking@gmail.com, www.kipmr.org.in and Direct Registration from 9.30 AM to 10.00 AM on Tuesday & Friday); Port Health Organisation, Rajaji Salai, Chennai, Monday and Wednesday from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm (Online registration: quarantinechennai@yahoo.com, pho.chn-mohfw@gov.in and physical registration on Monday from 8 am to 9 am till and Friday); and Port Health Officer, Port Health Organisation, No. B-20, World Trade Avenue, New Harbour, Thoothukudi, on Tuesday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM (Online Registration: phototuticorin@gmail.com and Physical Registration: 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM) till o’clock) on Tuesday).

Those who wish to travel from the state to these countries have been advised to approach these centres, get themselves vaccinated and obtain certificates.

The directorate said that except these centers, vaccination is not done anywhere in the state.
