Yemen’s internationally recognized government and its UAE-backed allies pushed Houthi rebels out of its second-largest district through a strategic central province, officials said on Wednesday.
The development in Marib province is another blow to the Iranian-backed Houthis, who for a year attempted to control the oil-rich province. Their offensive broke down when the UAE-backed Giants Brigade helped recapture nearby Shabwa province earlier this month, before advancing into Marib under air cover from the Saudi-led coalition.

The brigadier said government forces and giants recaptured the Harib district and its center south of the city of Marib after nearly two weeks of fighting, making their way to the nearby district of Juba.
