Yoga instructor holds scorpion pose for 29 minutes, sets Guinness World Record

Doing yoga requires not only skill and technique but also immense patience. It consists of several poses that many aces struggle with. But, a yoga instructor has taken the ancient practice to another level by creating a Guinness World Record.

Dubai-based yoga instructor Yash Moradiya stunned everyone by holding the inverted scorpion pose (Vrischikasana) for the longest time. He held the position for 29 minutes and four seconds straight and won the Guinness World Records title, reports Khaleej Times.

Yash broke the previous record of 4 minutes 47 seconds.

Reportedly, 22-year-old Yash first started practicing yoga as an extra-curricular activity in school. He was then just eight years old and soon became curious about the ancient form of exercise. He constantly practiced yoga postures and shone in the championships by showcasing his impeccable skills.

Later, Yash decided to explore the arts and studied the ancient wisdom of philosophy and yoga. With his gained knowledge and consistent practice, Yash started working towards his goal of holding the poses for longer durations.

For the Scorpion pose, Yash practiced for three hours a day and built up the necessary stamina and patience. Yash said, “After the first five minutes the challenge was stabilizing the mind.” The trainer said that he started losing balance as soon as he got into the pose. “It was focusing on my inner strength that propelled me forward,” he said.

Yash had been practicing scorpion pose for more than five years and gradually perfected his posture. He said that currency requires more stability as compared to other currencies. He further added that holding the mudra for a long period of time builds mental flexibility which can help in dealing with severe situations.

Highlighting the importance of yoga, Yash said, “Yoga has the potential to transform our physical and mental health.” He stresses that it can make us realize our hidden potential “far from limited thoughts.”

Reiterating the benefits of yoga, Yash said that it gives the ability to set a new direction in life and helps to shape our outlook.
