‘You Sit In Delhi, Mock Us’: Prashant Kishor’s ‘Spend Night In Bihar Village’ Challenge To Rahul Gandhi

Launching a blistering attack against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Jan Suraaj Party chief Prashant Kishor accused him of mocking Biharis while also questioning his commitment to the state.

As the political heat intensifies ahead of the assembly elections in Bihar, Kishor was unforgiving in his criticism of Rahul Gandhi. He said the Congress leader “sits in Delhi” and has no connection with the grassroots.

“Tum Delhi mein baithkar Bihariyo ke naam par haste ho aur yahan baithkar gyan dete ho (You sit in Delhi, laugh at Biharis then come here to lecture us),” Kishor said.

Kishor further said Gandhi was into token gestures rather than genuine political engagement. He challenged him to spend a night at a village in Bihar to prove otherwise.

“Rahul ji keeps coming and going here, but doesn’t really undertake any Yatra. If Rahul Gandhi has ever spent even one night in a village in Bihar, let us know. If he can spend just one night in a village, we’ll accept it,” he said.

He slammed the Congress for what he described as years of neglect and disrespect toward the people of Bihar. He then turned his ire on Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his remarks that Biharis are “born to do labour work”.

“Aap Bihariyo ko kehte ho ki woh paida hue hai mazduri karne ke liye aur phir yaha aakar bada-bada gyan doge (You say Biharis are born to do labour work, and then come here and preach to us),” he said.

Kishor also recalled how then prime minister Rajiv Gandhi had promised to make Bihar a development hub in 1989.

“Where did that money go? The Congress remained in power afterwards, so tell us, what did you do for Bihar?” he asked. “If Congress apologised for the injustice done to Sikhs, then Rahul Gandhi should apologise to Biharis as well before campaigning in Bihar. If Biharis are only born for labour, then why are you coming here? Just go campaign in Telangana and get your votes there.”

Bihar assembly polls are expected to be held later this year in October or November. The Election Commission of India (ECI) is yet to announce the dates.

Kishor has presented his Jan Suraaj Party as an alternative in Bihar to the usual suspects like the NDA parties or the INDIA bloc.
