Youth arrested for chasing law student, attempts to kill complainant, her lawyer mother in Tiruppur

A 25-year-old man, working as a junior to a senior advocate, was arrested for allegedly stalking a young woman earlier with a 20-year-old law student.

Tiruppur City Police on Sunday registered a case against a Special Public Prosecutor and a man who attempted to murder his daughter. He is absconding.

According to the police, the injured have been identified as Special Public Prosecutor B Jameela Bano (42) and her daughter Amirnisha (20) at Tiruppur Women’s Court.

On Sunday, both were at the office on Kumaran Road in Tiruppur, when unidentified persons entered the office and attacked them with weapons, causing serious injuries to the mother and daughter.

Tiruppur North Police reached the spot and admitted them to the Government Hospital in Tiruppur. He was later shifted to a private hospital in Coimbatore.

During investigation, the police found that Amarnisha studied at the Salem Law College and worked under a senior advocate. Abdul Rehman (25), who was also working as a junior with the lawyer, was allegedly following her. She had lodged a complaint with the Kondlampatti police in Salem.

The police had arrested her on August 22 under sections of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Atrocities on Women Act. Police said that when he was released on conditional bail, he attempted to murder Jameela Bano and Amirnisha in Tiruppur.

Tiruppur North Police has booked sections 447 (punishment for criminal trespass), 294(b) (speaking any obscene word in or near any public place) of the Indian Penal Code, and 307 (attempt to murder) and the police. A case has been registered under Looking for the accused.
