Palakkad, Kerala:
A 27-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly lynching his cousin, police said.
Hakim has been arrested for allegedly lynching his cousin Arshad, 21, police said. The incident happened on Thursday night.
“We were informed about the incident by the hospital authorities. They said the victim was brought dead,” police told PTI.
Hakim was arrested on Saturday and sent to judicial custody.
Initial investigation revealed that Hakim used to occasionally assault Arshad. Police said, “Hakeem had a business, and Arshad also used to work with him. They both were living together. We understand that he used to assault Arshad earlier as well. However, this time it turned fatal.”
He said that Hakim started beating his dog for feeding him late. Police further said that Arshad was attacked with a dog belt and some sticks.
Despite several injury marks on Arshad’s body, Hakim initially told the hospital authorities that his cousin fell from the roof of the house. However, the hospital informed the police about the death.
