YouTube looking to launch streaming video service: Report

Alphabet Inc.’s YouTube is considering launching an online store for streaming video services, the Wall Street Journal reported on August 12.

The firm has renewed talks with entertainment companies about participating in the platform, which it is referring to internally as the “Channel Store”.

The platform has been in the works for at least 18 months and could be available as early as this fall, the report said.

With more consumers moving to subscription-based streaming services and cutting the cord on cable or satellite TV, the planned launch sees YouTube joining companies like Roku Inc and Apple to gain a share of the already crowded streaming market. will allow.
